Preventative Maintenance
Here are some Do-It-Yourself tips for maintaining your HVAC system(s):
|
Using a garden hose, rinse the dirt and debris from your outside
condensing unit or heat pump.
Change your air filter at least once per month. This is very
inexpensive and can save you hundreds, even thousands of dollars
in energy bills and will keep your air handling system clean and
working efficiently.
Vacuum the dust from your filter grill as necessary.
Have your HVAC systems serviced twice per year. We recommend
Spring and Fall. The fall inspection is extremely important if you are
winterizing an evaporative cooler or have gas heat. Our check ups
are only $65.00 for the first unit and $45.00 for each additional unit
on the same property*. Ask us about neighborhood group rates!
Keep trees, bushes and other foliage at least three feet away from
your outside condensing unit or heat pump. Tree limbs, vines and
bushes can wind around delicate HVAC parts and damage your
system and may void your warranty. It also keeps bugs and vermin
from nesting inside as well as allows your serviceman access.
Have your indoor air handler inspected and maintained once per
year. An impacted evaporator coil can cause water condensation to
leak and may cause mold. To prevent your evaporator coil from
becoming impacted, follow PM tips numbers 2 and 3 diligently.

If you follow these simple steps, your HVAC system should live a long and trouble-free life, your energy bills will significantly decrease, and your pocketbook will be heavier!
